Lake Placid Half Marathon
Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 10:00AM. North Elba Show Grounds, Lake Placid, NY.

The 38th Annual Half Marathon provides runners from all over the country with a test of their summer training and also provides a warm up for the major fall marathons. Over 400 runners are expected for the 2008 race. Come and run where athletes are training for upcoming Winter and Summer Olympic Games. This is truly a unique and scenic race with views of the historical John Brown Farm and the 1980 Olympic Ski Jumps, as well as beautiful views of nature that only the Adirondacks can offer.

Course Records
Course Records are held by Andy Jones, Ottawa, Ont. : 1:07:49, 1990 and Kathy Brandell-Champagne, Plattsburgh, NY : 1:15:36, 1986.

Race Course
The course is a loop course starting and finishing on a running track at the site of the opening ceremonies for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. The 13.1 mile course follows the Ausable River for the majority of the route. There is a small incline in the first mile and one at the 13 mile mark. The course has been described as fair with challenge. There are 8 water stations along the course that serve water only. If you wish to supply your own drinks during the race, you are welcome to have someone stand at the water stations with your fluids. There are no restroom facilities on the course.

Entries
Entries should be postmarked by September 1, 2007. Online registration deadline will be September 6,2007 at 12:00 noon EST. The entry fee is $20(US Funds)until 9/1/06 and $30 after 9/1/07. Please make checks payable to the: North Elba Park District. Mail completed entries to Lake Placid Half Marathon, c/o North Elba Park District 2693 Main Street Suite 207, Lake Placid, NY 12946. There will be no refunds.

T-SHIRT
All pre-registered entrants (by September 1, 2007) will be guaranteed an official Half Marathon t-shirt. Please make sure to indicate your size on the registration form. Late registrants are NOT GUARANTEED a t-shirt.

AWARDS
Awards to the top 5 male and female finishers in age groups: under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. NOTE: Race committee reserves the right to change age groupings depending on number of entries.

LOCATION
Complete Race headquarters will be at the North Elba Show Grounds, Cascade Rd., Lake Placid, NY, located across Rt. 73 from the Olympic ski jumps. There is plenty of parking, showers, rest rooms, and dressing rooms located at the show grounds.

Chip, Number and Packet Pick Up
Friday, September 7,2007 - 2:00PM-9:00PM and Saturday, September 8, 2007 - 8:00AM-9:30AM at the show grounds. NOTE: Show grounds phone # is (518)523-1509. Use this only during packet pick up times. Please call (518)523-2591 any other time.

Post Race
Refreshments and Awards Ceremony will take place following the completion of the race at the show grounds.

    Lake Placid/Essex County Visitors Bureau for all travel and motel/hotel information. PHONE:800-447-5224. Camping will be available at the show grounds at no charge. RV Hook-ups (electricity and water) are available. Showers and restrooms are also available. Tents are welcome as well.
